The attempt to estimate vibro-acoustic properties of idlers has been presented in this paper. The
methodology is based on experimental technique called modal analysis. It has been proved that modal
damping is strictly connected with real damping of structure. Modal analysis has been performed for
seven idlers. The averaged modal damping values of six modified idlers have been compared with the
reference one.
