Metso has been continuously putting effort to development and optimisation of cone crushers performance. One of the steps in this development was launching a “new generation” HP3 cone crusher (fixed eccentric, no top bearing support design) focusing on better crushing performance and better product quality. Taking into consideration the main rules of cone crushers operation called “golden rules” in traditional approach to cone crusher operations the main adjustment tools are closed setting and stroke. Metso has recently performed numerous tests evaluating feed level influence on crushing performance. The results show, that maintaining of certain feed level bed can improve reduction ratio as well as the product quality. This paper describes results of feed level influence test in relation to feature of new generation cone crushers.
