ABSTRACT
The paper addresses the problems of sampling and preparation of grained material samples for further analyses. In the first sections the relationships between the minimal mass of the sample and its particle size composition, depending on the type of analysis, were presented. It was also presented a comparative analysis of particle size compositions of samples collected manually and with using of automatic sampling devices. There were also discussed common errors occurring at sampling and sample reduction, affecting the obtained results.
