Rockburst hazard in KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. copper mines in Legnica-Głogów Copper District
has been permanently increasing with mining development, increasing depth of excavation and
growing area of gobs. In Rudna copper mine mining is accompanied by serious bump hazard, so
prevention activities are necessary to limit it. Rockburst hazard and geological conditions of ore
deposit in the selected mining panel of Rudna copper mine for the period from 2001 to 2003 are
described in the paper. Moreover, rockburst active prevention activities and methods used in this
mining panel are also discussed and presented in detail. Using seismological data, the effectiveness of
active methods for the hazard limitation with special attention to provocation of high-energy tremors
by means of simultaneous concentrated blasting in numerous faces was assessed
