In the article the problem of elaboration of the ground value reduction assessment has been presented according with the Act on the Protection of Agricultural and Forest Land. The issue based on the case study from former clay exploitation area has been discussed. The need of elaboration of such assessment for postexploitation areas has been proposed for the discussion. Because of the fact that the Act on the Protection of Agricultural and Forest Land does not regulate the scope and content of such assessment in the paper the proposal of such document and the methodology of its elaboration has been put forward. The assessment has been undertaken due to the change of reclamation manner of post mining area. This change can make the reclamation much more realistic and executable. The post mining area, presented in the case study, is characterized by complicated formal properties, which make the reclamation very difficult. The authors’ experiences indicate that such situation is not unusual, on the contrary, it is common within small open pits.
